About this time last year, Moore Thread MTT S80 graphics card was officially released. In the following year, the official driver adaptation and update of this graphics card was very active. After 9 major driver updates, from only supporting DX9 to supporting and compatible with more DX11 games, from playing old online games to 3A, the game support list is also expanding. Now that it is about to be the first anniversary of the launch of Moore Thread MTT S80, today we will take a look at the growth of this card.

This time, we still use the Z790 platform for testing. The 13th generation Core i7-13700K processor is selected, and the driver is the official v230.40.0.2 community driver released in October, which simulates the real use environment as close as possible. The specific configuration is shown in the following figure.

Before the design test, let's go through the appearance of this card briefly. The body size of the Moore thread MTT S80 is small compared to the current mainstream graphics card size. The shell is made of aluminum alloy die-casting + CNC metal body with silver-gray color design and online appearance. The fan is designed as a symmetrical distribution of two large and one small, with streamlined slots and baffles on both sides for a stronger sense of hierarchy.

In terms of output interface, the Moore thread MTT S80 graphics card uses the 3*DP1.4a interface and 1*HDMI2.1 interface that are currently equipped with high-end graphics cards, which can support video output with a resolution of up to 8K. It is worth mentioning that Moore thread MTT S80 is the only graphics card on the market that supports PCIe5.0 x16 interface, but considering the downward compatibility of PCIe protocol, MTT S80 is not compatible with the mainstream motherboard on the market, and the performance of S80 will not be significantly affected by the mainstream PCIe Gen4 motherboard.

In terms of core parameters, Moore thread MTT S80 is based on TSMC 7nm process, with 4096 MUSA cores, main frequency 1.8GHz, 16GB GDDR6 video memory, video memory bit width 256bit, internal integration of 22 billion transistors, built-in MUSA architecture general computing core and tensor computing core, can support FP32, FP16 and INT8 calculation accuracy. ‎

We also tested the performance of Moore thread MTT S80 through Master Lu. The measured score of its graphics card was 198, which was 130% higher than that of the 221.31 driver version in May, and nearly 14.5% higher than that of 173000 of GTX1650 graphics cards. In the 3D test part of Master Lu's graphics card, the average number of frames also increased from 23 frames driven in May to 46 frames, directly doubling the number of frames, while the average frame of GTX1650 3D test was 33 frames. In November last year, with the successful launch of MTT S80, Moore Thread became the first GPU company in China to support Windows environment and DirectX graphical interface. At present, it is mainly based on compatibility optimization.

Before testing, the first step is to install the official Moore thread driver. This test uses the October community version of the driver v230.40.0.2. Judging from the pace of the iteration of the Moore thread driver, the community version of the driver is usually released in the official version first. The purpose is to let graphics card players experience the new features and new supported games of the driver for the first time. In the last version released in September, the community version of the driver 230.40.0.1 MTT S80 added support for OpenGL API under the Window system.

By the way, the performance monitoring tool is provided in Moore Thread's official driver, and the items shown are very detailed, so some of the following games will use this monitoring tool to view the number of frames and other information. As for why part, let's move on. In the game test, the vast majority of games will be tested with 1080p and 2K resolution, and special examples will be explained separately.

The first game we chose "original God", in June this year, Moore Thread officially released the version number v222.31.0.1 DX11 driver, supporting "original God", "fearless contract", "Destiny Ark", "Dyson Ball Plan", "Island crisis 3" and other five DX11 games, and the hottest of these five games is undoubtedly "original God". After entering the game, set the rendering accuracy to 0.8x, the rest of the scene details are all low, only enable Bloom for special effects, select FSR2 for anti-aliasing, and turn off vertical synchronization.

At this time, the number of frames in the field battle can be maintained at about 60 frames, there is no obvious stutter or sticking problem during the game, and the game experience is comfortable. When the original god was first supported in June, the same setting was only about 50 frames. If adjusted to high picture quality, the number of frames can also reach more than 45 frames.

In the Liyuegang map with complex lighting environment, the average number of frames is about 55 frames. It needs to be noted that the fluctuation of the frame number in the intention is obviously caused by the fact that the monitoring software can not get the frame rate temporarily during the full screen screenshot. Only the part of the wave crest is basically a straight line. Although it can not be said that 1080p fully effective play with the original spirit, but after properly reducing the image quality, the actual experience has been more perfect.

Next is "League of Legends", this game does not eat configuration, let's mainly take a look at today's degree of optimization. At present, the Moore thread MTT S80 has been able to maintain the number of alignment frames of 300-350 frames under the low image quality setting of 1080p.

Under the high quality setting of 2K resolution, the number of frames can be maintained at about 200-230 frames. This set of results is consistent with our performance when we tested the Moore thread host in June, indicating that it is not difficult for a Tencent game like League of Legends. However, taking the time back to May, before updating the June community version of the driver, its 1080p and 2K scores were only 145 frames and 135 frames, with a performance improvement of 106% and more than 50%.

So let's add some difficulty to "CS2". We all know that the performance requirements of this game have greatly increased after a comprehensive upgrade, and the number of frames of the N card next door has been halved directly. When we tested CS:GO in June, its 1080p all-low frame number was 200. how will it perform this time? After entering the game, I did not set it to all low, but chose the medium picture quality according to the recommended configuration, which is most in line with the real game scene of novice users.

After entering the game, I soon felt something was wrong. Although the average number of frames was more than 50 frames, and the running and shooting were all very smooth, once I met the enemy, the picture suddenly became very stuttered at the moment they opened fire on me, and I couldn't line up with the enemy at all. I can't afford to fall to the ground when I come to my senses. This made me very disappointed. Although the update of CS2 was very important, I didn't expect it to get stuck like this.

However, an accident made me realize that this stutter may not be a driver problem, but that the driver management tool of Moore thread conflicts with CS2. In short, after turning it off and using the system's own Xbox frame rate monitoring tool, the game finally becomes smooth. Although in the fierce street fighting, the average number of frames is only 40 frames, but the pleasure of the shooting game is finally back.

Then I changed the resolution to 2K, that is, the picture quality in 2K, and the frame rate fluctuated less, with an average of 38 frames. The number of frames in this game is not very ideal for high players, but in my personal experience, it is still very smooth. And if the picture quality is changed to low, then the frame number can be further increased to about 50 frames, which is expected in the future. After all, the occupancy rate of GPU in both pictures is more than 90%, indicating that the graphics card is not lazy.

Of course, we can't just test the official fit, so I turned on Rainbow 6: siege and ran through its own benchmark. Unexpectedly, although it didn't fit, the average frame at 1080p default was 58 frames, 1% Low frame was 19 frames, and the average frame rate at 2K default quality was 54 frames, 1% Low frames was 33 frames. It's not impossible to play at 2K resolution. Driven by July, the average frame of the game is only 36 frames, but it is expected that the official follow-up will be able to quickly optimize this hot online competitive game.

In the online game section, we also tested final Fantasy 14, which scored 5031 points for 1080p high picture quality and 8105 points for standard picture quality in the official test tool.

In the running segments of the two resolutions, the average number of frames is 60-70 frames, and there is no pressure to play.

Stand-alone game part, appetizer we chose death cells and Hades, which appear in the game adaptation list of two boutique independent games, there is no doubt that they do not pose a threat to the Moore thread MTT S80, both in 1080p high-definition quality can run to more than 500frames, 2K resolution also has more than 250frames, I think there is no need to say anything more.

Then there is the 3A game part, combined with the popularity of the game, adaptability and some personal evaluation on the Internet, we selected three games for testing. First of all, there is no adaptation news. In the courtyard-style street exploration section, places with less NPC can go to 40-50 frames, while places with a large number of people will fall to 30 frames, regardless of Jixiang Temple, Central Street or Shibuya, the effect is the same.

The number of combat frames decreased slightly at 2K resolution, with an average of 54 frames.

The number of frames in Jixiang Temple remains around 30 frames, and there are no mapping errors throughout the game. If you have not played more than 60 frames of P5R, then there should be no problem with customs clearance.

Finally, there is also on the official support list of "Island crisis 3," this 10-year-old 3A masterpiece is known as the graphics card killer, but the Moore thread MTT S80 has no problem running to an average of 60-70 frames at 1080p low picture quality, no mismapping and BUG problems, but only 20-30 frames left in 2K HD.

In the above game tests, there are very few games that can fill the GPU occupancy rate, and the video card temperature is not more than 60 degrees, which shows that the Moore thread still has a long way to go in game driver optimization, and the space for optimization is still broad. However, from the test results, under the official diligent update, not only can play more and more games, many not very old 3A can also smooth clearance, in addition to the 3A mentioned in the article, biochemical crisis 6, Soul of Darkness and other classic 3A games can also have a good experience, the speed of progress is visible to the naked eye.
