CTOnews.com October 24, the open source password manager Bitwarden released a developer survey report, which interviewed more than 600 developers, including authentication, AI and other web security content.

According to the report, most developers (88 per cent) think highly of Passkey and "password-free functionality", with more than 2/3 (68 per cent) of developers using Passkey to access work applications and 60 per cent for personal applications.

After the user has registered with Passkey, the user can use various biometric functions (such as fingerprint, iris) and PIN code on the device to log in to various website services with one click.

Apart from the fact that users do not need to remember passwords, the main benefit of Passkey is security. Because the public key and private key are separated, and the user's login credentials will be stored in the cloud and locally, it is more difficult for hackers to obtain the user's password information.

But the report also shows that while developers agree that the Passkey feature, while valuable, will not replace passwords. Only 36% of developers think Passkey will replace passwords.
