On the same day, an unmanned heavy truck equipped with Zhijia technology self-driving system was tested on this section of the road, and successfully completed the identification of abnormal driving behaviors such as retrograde vehicles, slow vehicles, fast roads, as well as road obstacles, road construction and other road traffic incidents, and carried out on-ramp convergence, lane maintenance, autonomous lane change, autonomous overtaking, road construction vehicles active avoidance and other driving behavior.

It is reported that the highway covers Su-Tai Expressway S17 (Huangfan Interchange-Xiangcheng Hub) and Huyi Expressway S48 (Xiangcheng Hub-Yangcheng Lake North Interchange) under the jurisdiction of Suzhou Exchange Group, with a total of 56 kilometers in both directions. Among them, the road section that can reach the L4 level autopilot test scene is 6.5 km, which is laid out on the one-way section from Weitang Interconnection to Xiangcheng Hub.

CTOnews.com noted that on July 1 this year, the intelligent network connection transformation project entered substantive construction, and the above road sections were intelligently upgraded. On both sides of this section of the highway, there is a smart lamp pole every 230 meters, and two lidars, two cameras and one blind lidar are deployed on each pole. Through these hardware devices, we can collect all the information of traffic participants, including coordinates, dimensions, heading angle, speed and so on. At the same time, we can also identify all kinds of traffic events in the area, including construction, accidents and so on. Through advanced wireless communication and new generation Internet technology, the dynamic real-time information exchange between vehicles and roads can be implemented, and some information of invisible or blind areas can be provided to self-driving vehicles in advance. It can also send traffic information to vehicles.

It is reported that the important role of this road section is that it can provide the required highway scene test data for automobile mainframe manufacturers, algorithm manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and so on, and form a closed loop from intelligent network connected urban roads to highway section testing. At the same time, the project can also provide a series of intelligent high-speed supervision services for transportation, public security and other government departments by creating an intelligent high-speed platform, which not only has the attributes of public services and infrastructure services, but also can explore the mode of operation.
