Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, October 24 (Xinhua)-- Volkswagen launched a newly designed 2024 Tuguan hybrid in September, based on the MQB Evo platform, equipped with a 1.5L TSI evo 2 turbocharged engine and a 19.7kWh battery pack, with a pure electric mileage of up to 100km and an efficiency of about 5.1km / kWh.

In addition to Volkswagen's 2024 Touguan, other models including the BMW 5-Series, Honda Accord e:PHEV and Changan Auchan Z6 also have a pure electric range of more than 100km. Toyota even announced that it would focus on developing PHEV, with the goal of achieving an average electric mileage of up to 200km.

Plug-in hybrid cars have a 9% market share in 2015 and are expected to grow to 21% in 2023, and the average battery pack capacity will increase from 15 kWh in 2018 to 20 kWh in 2023, Ji Bang Consulting said in its latest report.

Pure electric cars are still the first choice for electric vehicles, but manufacturers continue to introduce plug-in hybrid models because of consumer anxiety about mileage and the desire to maximize the residual value of traditional internal combustion engines.

Most plug-in hybrid vehicles are adapted from existing internal combustion engine (ICE) platforms, combining ICE and power components. The complexity and more components of plug-in hybrid vehicles may affect the overall efficiency of the vehicle, requiring additional maintenance or parts replacement, which is a higher maintenance cost for consumers.

Consumers are well aware of the disadvantages of plug-in hybrids, but steadily growing market share suggests mileage anxiety is still a major problem. Plug-in hybrid vehicle not only provides the comfort and electric function of gasoline engine, but also overcomes its inherent defects in reducing mileage anxiety.

CTOnews.com quoted the Ji Bang Consulting report that the ratio of public charging piles to vehicles has dropped from 7:1 now to 2:1 or 1:1 before the mileage anxiety can be completely eliminated, both of which are not expected to be achieved until around 2030.
