The long March II D carrier rocket is a normal temperature liquid two-stage carrier rocket developed by the eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group. The launch is the third take-off of the Chang Erding rocket this month and the 83rd launch of the rocket.

This mission is the 492nd launch of the long March series of carrier rockets, and also the 200th launch of the long March series of carrier rockets developed by the General Administration of the eighth Academy of Sciences.
