CTOnews.com, October 24 (Xinhua) according to Tesla's third-quarter results, the world's largest pure electric car maker has once again increased its potential annual production capacity to more than 2.35 million vehicles, an increase of 325000 vehicles over the previous quarter and an increase of 450000 vehicles over the same period last year.

The growth comes mainly from capacity expansion at factories in Shanghai in China and Texas in the United States. Tesla said that in addition to the planned shutdown, the Shanghai plant is close to full capacity, while the Texas plant has begun trial production of the Cybertruck and plans to deliver the first vehicles by the end of this year.

Tesla has six factories around the world. The United States has California Fremont super factory, Texas Austin super factory, China Shanghai super factory, Germany Berlin factory, Nevada super factory (GigaNevadaorGigafactory1), New York factory (Gigafactory2). The Nevada plant, which was completed and put into production in June 2014, is responsible for the main production of power batteries, Powerwall and Powerpack. The New York plant mainly produces solar roofs, which work in conjunction with Powerwall and Powerback.

Among them, the Shanghai factory is Tesla's first overseas factory and its export center. The plant is currently capable of producing more than 950000 Model 3 and Model Y models a year, an increase of 200000 over previous estimates. The Berlin plant in Germany, Tesla's first plant in Europe, has been producing Model Y models since March 2022 and currently has an annual production capacity of 375000 vehicles. The Austin factory in Texas is Tesla's latest production plant, starting from April 2022 to produce Model Y models, and will produce Tesla's first pickup truck, the Cybertruck. The plant is currently capable of producing more than 375000 Model Y and 125000 Cybertruck.

In addition, Tesla also announced the location of his sixth automobile factory, Santa Catarina, Mexico. The plant will be used to produce electric cars for the next generation of platforms, possibly a low-cost mass market model that will produce millions of cars a year. Construction of the plant is expected to begin in 2024.

CTOnews.com noted that Tesla's average production in the past two quarters (Q2-Q3) exceeded 450000 vehicles, which means that the company should have no problem achieving its annual target of 1.8 million vehicles in 2023. As of September 17, 2023, Tesla has produced a total of 5 million electric vehicles since 2008.
