The online rumor that 'Huawei will launch 10,000 6G mobile Leo satellites' is pure rumor-mongering. The rumors are groundless and unfounded. The same information is spread on multiple platforms and accounts. Please do not believe it and report it decisively.
In fact, this is not the first time similar news has appeared. CTOnews.com checked and found that the Securities Times reported in 2021 that in July of that year, China launched two satellites in cooperation with China Mobile and the China Aerospace Corporation, with the intention of entering 6G and taking the lead in 6G research and development. Huawei Chinese officials denied the news, saying that "Huawei is about to launch two satellites to seize 6G research and development opportunities" as false news.

In the global communication ecosystem, satellite communication is an important part of 5G-Advanced and 6G. The third Generation Partnership Project (3rd GenerationPartnership Project,3GPP) has carried out a research on the integration of satellite and 5G new air port (New Radio, NR) technology, and named the integration technology as "non-terrestrial network (Non-Terrestrial Network,NTN)".
The research items (Study Item,SI) of NTN R14 to R16 consider the integration of satellite access services in 5G networks such as roaming, broadcast / multicast and the Internet of things (Internet of Things,IoT), identifying NTN scenarios, frameworks, NTN-based questions and related solutions, and 12 potential use cases.
At the end of 2019, the first project (Work Item,WI) of the non-terrestrial network (NewRadio Non-Terrestrial Network,NR-NTN) based on the new 5G air port and the Internet of things non-terrestrial network (Internet of Things Non-Terrestrial Network,IoT-NTN) was approved in R17. From R17 to R19, both regenerative and transparent satellites are expected to support the basic features of NR. The R20 will begin to add support for 6G NTN, as well as many other enhancements and new features, including, but not limited to, the integration of terrestrial network (Terrestrial Network,TN) with NTN, as well as further spectral efficiency improvements based on 5G and 5G-Advanced NTN.
Huawei research pointed out that NTN with ultra-high-density VLEO constellation will become part of the 6G network and play a key role in ensuring the extreme flexibility of communication access services. In order to successfully realize the commercialization of VLEO NTN network, we need to develop new usage scenarios and applications and solve the corresponding technical challenges.
