CTOnews.com, Oct. 23, IDC Consulting official account released a report today, which mainly studies the scale, growth rate, major players, market and technology development trend of China's CAD and CAE market in 2022.

CTOnews.com learned from the IDC report that in 2022, the total market share of computer-aided design (CAD) in China's design and development industrial software reached 4.86 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 15.4 percent, a slowdown compared with the previous year.

From the perspective of competition pattern, Dassault system, Siemens and Autodesk are still the top three in China's CAD software market in 2022, but their market share has declined:

Dassault system dropped from 25.3% to 23.5%

Siemens dropped from 16.4% to 15.3%

Autodesk fell from 14.0% to 12.5%.

Zhongwang Software, PTC, Suzhou Haochen and Digital generosity are the fourth to seventh respectively.

The 3D CAD sub-market is 3.09 billion yuan, accounting for 73.4% of the total market, with an annual growth rate of 21.5%, higher than the overall CAD market. Other typical service providers include Xindi Digital, Huatian Software, Zhejiang Lingdi, Kujiale, 3D Home, sequence Technology, Tianhe Software, EPLAN, Lech Software, Carent, Gongyi and so on.

According to ▲ Tu Yuan IDCIDC, the total market share of China's computer-aided engineering (CAE) will reach 3.76 billion yuan in 2022, with an annual growth rate of 17.1%, maintaining a steady growth rate.

Ansys, Siemens and Dassault Systems ranked among the top three in China's CAE software market in 2022, and their market share also declined. Among them, Ansys dropped from 19.1% to 16.8%, Siemens from 16.5% to 14.7%, and Dassault system from 10.2% to 7.9%. Other typical service providers include Aojier, Shanghai Sochen, Yundao Zhizao, China Shipping Orlanto, Intel Simulation, Frontier Power, an Huaixin, Tianli, Hollavo, Yunlu Technology, Zhongwang Software, etc., also have a good market performance.

▲ map source IDCIDC believes that CAD, CAE market depth related, but also different. The CAD market has a concentration of manufacturers and product technology convergence, while the CAE market is more dispersed, and the number of manufacturers is much higher than that of CAD:

The total market share of the top seven CAD market in 2022 was 69.9%, compared with 49.5% for CAE in the same period. The main reason is that although CAE has some common underlying technologies, such as geometric modeling, meshing, finite element model and so on, it is difficult for even head manufacturers to have general simulation products with full physical field because they involve different fields such as structural simulation, fluid simulation, electromagnetic simulation, noise simulation and all kinds of professional simulation.

Therefore, there are all kinds of general and professional CAE simulation products in the market. Based on this market characteristic, the competition in the second half of the CAE market will not only further expand its existing market and product advantages, but also in the form of integration among manufacturers.

IDC claims that local manufacturers have begun to make breakthroughs in all kinds of design and development industrial software in recent years. According to the report, local manufacturers still have a market share of nearly 20 per cent in the CAD market in 2022, while the CAE market remains around 15 per cent. Based on this, IDC believes that while the overall market continues to rise in the future, the proportion will continue to rise.
