By the end of September, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 630 million, a net increase of 40.19 million over the end of last year; the total number of mobile phone users reached 1.723 billion, a net increase of 39.33 million over the end of last year, of which 5G mobile phone users reached 737 million, a net increase of 176.54 million over the end of last year, accounting for 42.8% of mobile phone users.

In the first three quarters, cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 218.8 billion GB, an increase of 14.9 percent over the same period last year. By the end of September, the total number of mobile phone base stations in China had reached 11.43 million, a net increase of 598000 over the end of last year. Among them, the total number of 5G base stations reached 3.189 million, accounting for 27.9% of the total number of mobile base stations.

I. overall operation

The growth rate of telecom business revenue rebounded slightly. In the first three quarters, telecom business revenue totaled 1.2813 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.8 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of 0.6 percentage points over the first half of the year. The total volume of telecommunications services calculated at the same price last year increased by 16.5% over the same period last year.

Cumulative growth rate of telecom business revenue and total telecom business revenue from fixed Internet broadband services has increased steadily. In the first three quarters, the revenue from Internet broadband services completed by the three basic telecommunications enterprises was 196.2 billion yuan, an increase of 8 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 15.3 percent of the telecom business revenue, an increase of 0.3 percentage points over the first half of the year, and an increase of 1.2 percentage points in telecom business revenue.

The revenue of mobile data traffic business is growing at a low speed. In the first three quarters, the three basic telecom companies completed 492 billion yuan in mobile data traffic business revenue, an increase of 0.4% over the same period last year, accounting for 38.4% of telecom business revenue, driving an increase of 0.2% in telecom business revenue.

Revenue from emerging businesses continues to grow rapidly. The three basic telecommunications companies actively developed emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data centers, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of things. In the first three quarters, the revenue from emerging businesses totaled 270.2 billion yuan, an increase of 19.8 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 21.1 percent of the telecom business revenue, driving the growth of telecom business revenue by 3.7 percentage points. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data increased by 35% and 37.1% respectively over the same period last year, and the business revenue of the Internet of things increased by 24.1%.

Revenue from the voice business continues to decline. In the first three quarters, the three basic telecommunications companies completed fixed voice and mobile voice business revenue of 14.33 billion yuan and 85.39 billion yuan, down 8.3% and 1.4% respectively from the same period last year, accounting for 7.8% of telecom business revenue, down 0.7 percentage points from the same period last year.

Fixed broadband access users continue to upgrade to gigabit bandwidth. By the end of September, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 630 million, a net increase of 40.19 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100Mbps and above access rates reached 594 million, accounting for 94.3 percent of the total users, an increase of 0.4 percentage points over the end of last year; and the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 1000Mbps access rates reached 145 million, a net increase of 52.89 million over the end of last year, accounting for 23 percent of the total users.

The number of mobile phone users has increased steadily, and the scale of 5G users has accelerated. By the end of September, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 1.723 billion, a net increase of 39.33 million over the end of last year. Of these, 5G mobile phone users reached 737 million, a net increase of 176.54 million over the end of last year, accounting for 42.8 percent of mobile phone users and an increase of 9.5 percentage points over the end of last year.

Cellular Internet of things (IoT) users are growing rapidly, and IPTV (Internet TV) users are increasing steadily. By the end of September, the three basic telecommunications enterprises had developed 2.22 billion cellular IoT end users, a net increase of 377 million over the end of the previous year, accounting for 56.3% of the number of mobile network terminal connections (including mobile phone users and cellular IoT end users). The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 396 million, a net increase of 15.93 million over the end of last year.

By the end of September, the number of mobile Internet users had reached 1.51 billion, a net increase of 54.71 million over the end of last year. In September, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) per household reached 17.01GB / household month, an increase of 13.4% over the same period last year, which was higher than that in December last year. 0.83GB / household month.

Traditional communications business continues to contract. In the first three quarters, mobile phone outbound calls completed 1.69 trillion minutes, down 1.6% from the same period last year, while fixed-line caller calls completed 59.61 billion minutes, down 5.2% from the same period last year. In the first three quarters, the national mobile short message business increased by 2.4% compared with the same period last year, and the mobile short message service revenue fell 1.2% from the same period last year, down 2.9% and 1 percentage point respectively from the first half of the year.

The total length of optical cable lines has increased steadily. By the end of September, the total length of optical cable lines nationwide had reached 63.1 million km, a net increase of 3.517 million km over the end of last year. Among them, the proportion of access network optical cable, local network relay optical cable and long-distance optical cable lines is 62.3%, 35.9% and 1.8% respectively.

The service capability of gigabit network is constantly improving. By the end of September, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide had reached 1.122 billion, a net increase of 50.98 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 1.08 billion, a net increase of 54.87 million over the end of last year, accounting for 96.3% of the Internet broadband access ports. By the end of September, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capacity reached 21.85 million, a net increase of 6.619 million over the end of last year.

The development of gigabit users in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is at a high level. By the end of September, the penetration rates of fixed broadband access users with 1000Mbps and above access rates in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions were 24.6%, 22.2%, 22.9% and 14.7%, respectively. The penetration rates of broadband access users with 1000Mbps and above access rates in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta are 24.3% and 23.1% respectively, higher than the national average of 1.3 and 0.1 percentage points, and up 1.8 and 1.9 percentage points respectively over the first half of the year.

The construction of 5G in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta is ahead of the whole country. By the end of September, the number of 5G base stations in eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 1.483 million, 708000, 795000 and 203000 respectively, accounting for 29.6%, 28.5%, 24.9% and 27.2% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in this region, respectively. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 323.1 million, 173.68 million, 191.71 million and 48.77 million respectively, accounting for 43.3%, 43.1%, 42.4% and 40.4% of the total mobile phone users in the region, respectively. By the end of September, the number of 5G base stations in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta had reached 318000 and 654000 respectively, accounting for 31% and 30.5% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in the region, respectively. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 62.44 million and 133.21 million respectively, accounting for 42.4% and 42.7% of the total mobile phone users in the region, respectively.

The increase of mobile Internet access traffic in the Yangtze River Delta is outstanding. In the first three quarters, mobile Internet access traffic in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 94.58 billion GB, 49.57 billion GB, 63.19 billion GB and 11.41 billion GB, respectively, up 16.8%, 15.3%, 11.7% and 16.2% over the same period last year. Mobile Internet access traffic in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta reached 15.81 billion GB and 40.07 billion GB respectively, up 11.1% and 17% over the same period last year. In September, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of Xizang, Qinghai, Hainan, Xinjiang, Ningxia and Yunnan exceeded 20GB / household month, and the difference between the highest and lowest DOU values of each province was 14.4GB / household month, narrowing 8.4GB / household month compared with the same period last year.

Note: since March this year, the statistical caliber of the number of indoor base stations in the existing 5G base stations has been adjusted from baseband processing units to RF units, because the base station data with the conditions for use are dynamically updated, so the previous data cannot be adjusted retroactively.
