By the end of September, China had built and opened a total of 3.189 million 5G base stations and 737 million 5G mobile phone users, accounting for 42.8% of the total mobile phone users.

Zhang Yunming said, "5G signals have been covered from Mohe in Heilongjiang to Sansha in Hainan, from the Hongqilafu port in Xinjiang, which is more than 5000 meters above sea level, to the Shanxi mine, which is more than 200m underground."

Zhang Yunming also claimed that in recent years, China's 5G key technologies have made overall breakthroughs and have formed a relatively complete 5G industrial chain covering systems, chips, terminals, instrumentation and other links, and the strength of the industrial foundation has been continuously enhanced. The number of necessary patent claims for China's 5G standard accounts for 42 per cent of Prida in the world.

Gong Ke, former president of Nankai University and former president of the World Federation of Engineering organizations, said at the conference that the current global 5G network population coverage is about 37%, with more than 1.4 billion users, about half of which are from China, but CTOnews.com found that he also claimed that "the global 5G industry application is still in the early stages of development."
