We have been developing MIUI since the beginning of Xiaomi.

Many friends may not understand that MIUI is not just based on the improvement of the interaction layer of Android native system, but has already gone deep into the underlying Linux kernel and made a lot of underlying "magic changes" in system framework, performance scheduling, and kernel capabilities. For example, in 2013, we launched the process alignment wake-up mechanism, six months ahead of Android, and runtime rights management to protect users' privacy, nearly three years ahead of Android.

With the start of IoT business, Xiaomi's research and development of embedded system is becoming more and more in-depth. In order to solve the fragmentation and connection gap of device systems in IoT network, Xiaomi issued a connection protocol for IoT devices in 2014. In 2017, the Vela OS developed by Xiaomi was officially released. In order to flexibly adapt to all kinds of intelligent hardware products, Vela OS has achieved scalability and cutting, supporting all kinds of devices from simple to complex, and began to gradually unify the ecology of IoT devices. At present, the installed capacity has reached more than 20 million.

Xiaomi began to develop cross-end application frameworks in 2016. In 2019, we began to develop a pure self-developed general-purpose system Mina OS, and verified the small-scale mass production of some products. At the same time, we also successfully ran on mobile phones in the laboratory, and some of the technical achievements have been integrated into Xiaomi OS.

In 2021, Xiaomi started the research and development of OS.

At the beginning of 2022, we decided to unify the software architecture of four systems: MIUI, Vela, Mina and OS. Since then, the underlying merger of Xiaomi's operating system has been completed.

With a R & D team of more than 5000 people, and after two years of polishing, Xiaomi surging OS arises at the historic moment, and the "whole ecology of people and cars" is thus opened.
