CTOnews.com, October 23 (Xinhua) according to South Korea's Daily Business News, Samsung Electronics recently announced that it will conduct a 6G test of the 12.7GHz-13.25GHz band within 1 km of Plano, Texas, in order to evaluate the next generation of cellular devices.

It is reported that Samsung Electronics has applied to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a radio frequency license to test using a prototype base station and as many as 32 mobile radio devices. In other FCC documents, Samsung made clear its vision of using the 12.7GHz-13.25GHz band for 6G. "preliminary research results show a significant increase in spectrum demand for 6G use cases such as XR (extended reality), holographic communications and joint communications and sensors."

Samsung Electronics released a 6G white paper in July 2020, outlining the company's 6G vision to bring the next hyperconnectivity experience to every corner of life. It is expected that 6G communications will be commercially available as early as 2028 and mainstream by 2030. In order to speed up the research of 6G, Samsung Research Institute, the advanced R & D center in Samsung electronic terminal product business, established the Advanced Communications Research Center in May 2019.
