According to reports, the Longlong high-speed railway is a construction project of the national "medium-and long-term railway network planning". It starts from Longyan City, Fujian Province in the east, enters Guangdong Province through Shanghang County and Wuping County, and finally reaches Longchuan County, Heyuan City, with a designed speed of 250km per hour and a total length of 265.5 km. Fujian has a total length of 92.7km, making use of the existing Gan Ruilong railway, with a total length of 64.3km.

According to the construction plan, 127.69 kilometers of tracks will be laid on the Fujian section, which is expected to be opened by the end of November this year.

The railway department said that Longlong high-speed railway is the regional link of the national "medium-and long-term railway network planning". The section from Longyan to Wuping is located in Longyan City, Fujian Province, an old revolutionary base, and is connected to Nanlong Railway, Ganruilong Railway and Longxia Railway.

After the Longlong high-speed railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will put an end to the history that there is no railway access to Wuping County in the old revolutionary base area and Wuping County in the Central Soviet area, and will also allow the old areas to add a new fast railway corridor in Longyan City, Fujian Province and Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, which will further promote the regional economic development of Fujian and Guangdong provinces, and form the third railway corridor between Fujian and Guangdong provinces after the Zhanglong Railway and the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway.
