In terms of integral solid motors, 1.2-meter-diameter motors have been used in carrier rockets such as the Jielong-1 carrier rocket. a series of solid motors with a diameter of 2 meters are used in China's long March series of all-solid carrier rockets long March 11, and 2.6-meter solid motors are mainly used in carrier rockets such as Jielong 3. The 500-ton thrust engine with a diameter of 3.5 meters has been successfully developed. it is the integrated advanced solid motor with the largest diameter and the largest thrust in the world, which makes China's large-scale integrated solid rocket motor technology step into the leading level in the world. In the future, the 3.5-meter series of solid motors will be used in medium and large carrier rockets such as the Jielong IV.

In the aspect of segmented solid motor, as the solid booster power of the new generation of medium carrier rocket long March 6, the 2m / 2 stage solid motor has successfully completed three launches of China's first solid-liquid bundled rocket. 3m / 2 stage solid engine and 3.2m / 3 stage solid engine achieved successful ground thermal test in 2016 and 2020 respectively. Based on the technical requirements of large and heavy carrier rockets for large solid booster engines in the future, the fourth Institute will carry out research on segmented engines with a diameter of 3.5m to meet the thrust requirements of 550t ~ 1500 tons, which can be used as solid core power. at the same time, it can also be used as a solid booster for heavy carrier rockets to improve carrying capacity and effectively reduce system complexity.
