Tesla Cybertruck pickup "violence test": dozens of submachine gun bullets failed to penetrate the car door

According to CTOnews.com news on October 21, Tesla CEO Musk announced on X (formerly Twitter) early this morning that his Cybertruck pickup truck had recently completed a "violence test": "We emptied all the bullets in Tommy's submachine gun drum in the style of 'Alcapon' and hit them on the car's door. None of the bullets penetrated the crew cabin."

CTOnews.com Note: the Tommy submachine gun mentioned here, also known as the Thompson submachine gun, has 50 bullets, 100 optional bullets and 100 bullets that can be fired in less than 7 seconds. Al Capone used the gun's 70 bullets to commit a gang murder in 1929, and the gun was later nicknamed the "Chicago typewriter."

Earlier, Tesla Silicon Valley owners' Club shared a video showing a Cybertruck driving on a highway with dozens of bullet holes in the door on the driver's side.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Tesla had planned to deliver the Cybertruck electric pickup in September this year, but the delivery was delayed due to the overweight stainless steel body provided by the supplier Otto Kunpu, which affected the vehicle's battery life.

Bloomberg has said that Musk chose avant-garde design and unorthodox stainless steel construction for the Cybertruck, posing additional technical challenges for the engineering team. Over the past few months, engineering teams have tried to replace lighter parts, or reduce the use of certain parts, and try various other ways to reduce the weight of the Cybertruck to meet their battery pack mileage targets.

On the recent Tesla earnings conference call, Musk mocked that the development of Cybertruck was "dug its own grave" (digging his own grave), and it would take several years to increase the output of the electric pickup truck.

When the car made its debut in 2019, it publicly completed a "violence test": Musk and Tesla's chief designer team tried to hit the car's glass with an iron ball and were at peace with each other in the free fall impact experiment. but both windows were smashed when they hit the front and rear windows on the left. Musk said at the time that the problem would be "fixed" at a later stage.

In another test after 2019, workers also hit the window glass with a metal ball, but this time the glass was intact.
