The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the Work Plan for Stable Growth of Automobile Industry (2023-2024), which put forward the annual sales target, in which it is proposed that China will strive to achieve about 27 million automobile sales this year, with a year-on-year growth of about 3%, and the estimated sales volume of new energy vehicles is about 9 million, with a year-on-year growth of about 30%.

Tao Qing revealed that in the first three quarters of this year, with the joint efforts of all parties concerned, China's new energy automobile industry maintained a strong momentum of development.

First, the scale of production and marketing has been further expanded. In the first three quarters, the growth rate of production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 33.7% and 37.5% respectively; the sales volume of new energy vehicles accounted for 29.8% of the total sales volume of new vehicles.

Second, the rapid improvement of technical level. The energy density of large-scale mass production power battery reaches 300 watt-hour/kg, the average driving range of pure electric passenger cars exceeds 460 kilometers, and the proportion of vehicles with L2 and above automatic driving function exceeds 40% in passenger cars.

Third, brand competitiveness has been greatly improved. In the first three quarters, the domestic market sales of self-owned brand new energy passenger vehicles accounted for 80.2%; 825,000 new energy vehicles were exported, up 1.1 times year-on-year.

Fourth, continuous optimization of supporting environment. A total of 6.278 million charging piles, 3460 power replacement stations and more than 10,000 power battery recycling service outlets have been built. More than 20,000 kilometers of intelligent network-connected automobile test roads have been opened accumulatively, and the total test mileage has exceeded 70 million kilometers.

In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will deeply implement the Development Plan for New Energy Automobile Industry (2021-2035), improve work measures, strengthen departmental coordination, and promote the high-quality development of new energy automobile industry. Implement the Guiding Opinions on Further Building a High-quality Charging Infrastructure System issued by the General Office of the State Council to better meet the charging needs of new energy vehicles. Carry out city-level demonstration of "vehicle-road cloud integration". Improve the power battery recycling system and improve the key resource guarantee capability.

Fourth, establish and improve the guarantee system. Accelerate the standard revision of electric vehicle and power battery safety, automatic driving, operating system, etc. Strengthen production access management and in-process and post-event supervision, keep the safety bottom line of new energy vehicles, so that consumers like to buy and use them at ease.
