Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com October 20, the Federal Communications Commission (Federal Communications Commission,FCC) announced today that it will allow a range of consumer products to use the 6GHz band.

Previously, most of the 6GHz band was limited to licensed commercial use. Apple, Microsoft, Meta and other companies applied to FCC in 2019 for unauthorized use of the 6GHz band, claiming that the 6GHz band can rely on "low interference", "high speed" and other features, so that a series of devices are no longer bound by cables, thus "more mobile power", while also helping surgery and barrier-free areas, and this application has been approved.

▲ image source FCC it is reported that the relevant 6 GHz band is mainly open to ultra-low power (Very Low Power,VLP) devices, VR, AR, somatosensory detectors and various Internet of things devices (IoT).

The FCC committee believes that industry innovation "needs flexibility", but a "series of regulations" are still needed to allow devices to have 6Ghz high-speed transmission capability. In order to protect the operation of existing devices in the 6 GHz band, FCC currently has strict requirements on the power consumption of consumer products.

After inquiry, CTOnews.com learned that consumer products are allowed to operate in the U-NII-5 and U-NII-7 portions of the 6 GHz band, totaling 850 MHz.
