On October 19, during the World Science Fiction Congress, the results of the first Sichuan Youth Science Fiction Competition were released in Chengdu.

In the award session, Robert Sawyer, a famous Canadian science fiction writer, and Si Xiao, vice president of Tencent Group and president of Tencent Research Institute, jointly released the list of the best works of the first Sichuan Youth Science Fiction solicitation activity "Creative + Special creation". Among them, nine teenagers won awards for articles and paintings in the special category of "Future City".

The theme solicitation campaign for "Future and the City" is jointly launched by Tencent Research Institute, "Science Fiction World", Sichuan Science and Technology Association, Sichuan Writers' Association, etc. This campaign aims to solicit science fiction creative works on topics related to future cities and smart cities in Sichuan Province. The purpose of this campaign is to take "science fiction" as an opportunity to imagine the future city and future life, and to promote young people's imagination and innovation.

Taking the opportunity of the World Science Fiction Congress held in China for the first time, the future urban essay solicitation hopes to explore a breakthrough for sci-fi circles and youth groups with the theme of "Future City".

The content of this solicitation activity requires science fiction, painting or creative works related to the future city and the future city. The organizing committee invited Alai and Liu Cixin to set up an advisory committee, as well as well-known science fiction writers and scholars to form an expert review team.

It is worth noting that during the recruitment process, Tencent WeCityX provided a lot of research materials to support the promotion of the sci-fi world, including the future city manual, in order to stimulate the thinking and interest of young people. The solicitation campaign for the theme of "Future and the City" lasted one year, collected nearly 491 contributions, selected 147 shortlisted works and 58 excellent works. After the selection of the professional jury, a total of 9 young people's articles and paintings were selected as the best works.

The above nine works include "Smart Eco-City" by Gu Lin San Xiaokang Yang Hui, "Future Hospital" by Xu Wendi of Chengdu Pengcheng Primary School, "Future Mars Ecological City" by Yuan Haosen of Wanyuan No. 4 Middle School, and "Star AI Giant Panda" by Yang Yan of Liangshan Bay Primary School, covering science fiction painting, science fiction, science fiction composition and other types.

These works have different topics, but they all point to the social proposition of how science and technology will change life in the future. they not only show young people's imagination of science and technology and the future, but also provide new inspiration and ideas for the development of cities in the future. it shows people a picture of a fantasy world in the future.

Chengdu is known as the science fiction capital of China, where two iconic Chinese science fiction brands, the Science Fiction World Magazine and the China Science Fiction Top Award Galaxy Award, were born.
