CTOnews.com, October 20 (Xinhua)-- Samsung has raised its forecast for shipments of the Galaxy Z foldable phone series next year to 20 million units, according to South Korean media The Elec.

Samsung estimates shipments of 10 million Galaxy Z foldable phones this year, including 3 million Galaxy Z Fold5 and 7 million Galaxy Z Flip5, compared with Samsung's previous estimate of 16 million this year.

It is reported that Samsung foldable phones are increasingly feeling pressure from Chinese phone manufacturers, including Huawei, Yijia and OPPO, which have launched their own collapsible product lines.

Huawei Mate X5 reported that Huawei will launch a Pocket foldable phone next year, which may sell for less than 1 million won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 5390 yuan), while the Galaxy Z Flip5 starts at 1.4 million won (currently about 7546 yuan).

CTOnews.com previously reported that both Tencent and vivo are actively preparing reel phones and plan to go into commercial production by the end of next year.

It is reported that it is almost impossible for Chinese mobile phone manufacturers to catch up with Samsung in the foldable mobile phone market, so they all set their sights on a new device form-reel phones.

Vivo is also developing a scroll phone, which may be released at the same time. It is reported that the panel may come from Huaxing Optoelectronics (CSOT) or Samsung display (Samsung Display).
