CTOnews.com, October 20 (Xinhua)-- Samsung hosted the 2023 Samsung Europe OEM Forum (SFF), which showcased a number of foundry solutions ranging from advanced 2nm technology to traditional 8-inch process, as well as the first 5 nm eMRAM automotive storage under development.

EMRAM is the next generation memory semiconductor for automotive applications, which can achieve high read and write speed and excellent heat resistance.

Samsung has been developing the 14nm process based on the AEC-Q100 Grade 1 FinFET process since it developed and quantified the industry's first 28nm FD-SOI-based eMRAM in 2019.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that Samsung Electronics announced a roadmap for mass production of 14nm process eMRAM in 2024, 8nm in 2026 and 5nm in 2027. Compared with the 14-nm process, Samsung 8-nm eMRAM has the potential to increase density by 30% and speed by 33%.

Samsung says it maximizes the performance of power semiconductors by reducing the distance between each transistor by using deep trench isolation (DTI) technology.

Samsung foundry will use a higher voltage of 120V (currently 70V) for a wider range of applications and is ready to provide a process development kit (PDK) for 120V to 130nm BCD processes by 2025.
