CTOnews.com, October 20 (Xinhua) according to a recent report released by cyber security company Hoxhunt, 22% of phishing attacks were in the form of scanned QR codes in the first few weeks of October this year.

Many organizations that provide QR code and short code creation have security measures in place to prevent hackers from using their services to create malicious QR codes. But hackers can still use some services to create QR codes with malicious links.

The agency conducted a "quishing" test in September, which surveyed nearly 600000 employees from 38 companies in nine industries and from 125 countries and regions around the world.

The survey found that 36% of employees successfully identified and reported a QR code phishing attack, and more than half did not realize it was a threat.

The survey results show that manufacturing workers are the most likely to ignore such attacks, with a failure rate of 1.6 times higher than other industries, while legal, professional and business services are 1.5 times more successful in reporting benchmark simulations than other industries.
