CTOnews.com October 19, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu said today that Apple plans to add generative AI technology to iPhone and iPad as early as the end of 2024.

Citing its own supply chain survey, Jeff Pu claims that Apple may set up hundreds of AI servers this year and next to achieve related functions.

The analyst believes that Apple will then offer a combination of cloud and device-side AI to ensure user privacy. However, Jeff Pu added that "a little patience" is needed to wait for Apple to launch its own generated AI service, as Apple is still considering "how to use and process personal data in a way that meets customers' privacy commitments."

If it goes according to plan, Apple may introduce generative AI features starting with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, but it is not clear how Apple will use the relevant AI technology.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that The Information, a foreign media, claimed that Apple plans to integrate generative AI into Siri and let Siri perform complex tasks in a question-and-answer form similar to ChatGPT, a function that will appear in iOS18 at the earliest.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously said that Apple is testing a "ChatGPT-like" chat robot called "Apple GPT", but claims that Apple has no clear strategy for "deploying a generative AI."
