Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, October 19 (Xinhua)-- Glen Peters, research director of the Cicero Climate Research Institute in Norway, recently warned that global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will reach an all-time high in 2023.
Peters says carbon pollution needs to be cut by nearly half over the next decade to meet the Paris Agreement's world target of 1.5C (2.7F) higher than pre-industrial levels.
To this end, global carbon dioxide emissions need to fall by 5% in 2023, but after in-depth research, Peters found that emissions continue to rise this year and are now expected to increase by 0.5% to 1.5% this year.
"emissions are unlikely to fall in 2023," Peters said frankly.
Dr. Peters says emissions are increasing every year, making it more difficult to reach an agreed path.
CTOnews.com Note: in early 2023, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said for the first time that world demand for oil, gas and coal was expected to peak this decade due to "staggering" growth in clean energy technologies and electric vehicles.
