CTOnews.com, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) although electric cars are becoming more and more popular and new models are being introduced, most Americans don't want to give up gasoline cars.

In a recent survey conducted by Yahoo Finance and Ipsos, 57% of respondents said they were less likely to choose electric vehicles (including pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids) when buying the next car.

In this majority group, 36 per cent said it was "completely impossible" to choose an electric car, while 21 per cent said it was "unlikely" and 31 per cent said they might buy an electric car.

The biggest factors preventing potential buyers from buying electric cars are high prices, limited mileage and inadequate charging infrastructure.

CTOnews.com notes that a recent analysis by Snapp Global Mobility found that many families who own electric cars will buy fuel-powered cars next time. In the mainstream market, 52.1 per cent of electric car households (excluding Tesla's leading industry loyalty data) choose electric cars as their next car, which means almost half of them choose fuel vehicles.

The proportion of Tesla families buying electric cars again is as high as 76.7 per cent, raising the average of the entire luxury electric vehicle segment to 72.6 per cent. Some other brands performed poorly; Porsche and BMW had electric vehicle loyalty of 36.8 per cent and 45.9 per cent, respectively.

Despite the headwind, electric vehicles are still booming. According to Cox Automotive, sales of electric vehicles in the United States have grown for 13 consecutive quarters, and the United States is on track to achieve its goal of selling more than 1 million electric vehicles a year for the first time.
