At the end of September, OpenAI announced the addition of web browsing capabilities to its chat robot ChatGPT, which can access the Internet in real time and provide links to websites from which information comes from. At that time, the feature was only available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers and was in the testing stage.

On Tuesday, OpenAI announced through its release notes that web browsing has moved from a test phase to a formal version, making it easier for subscribers to use, eliminating the need to switch test switches.

According to the instructions, subscribers now only need to select "use Bing to browse the web" from the GPT-4 model selector.

ChatGPT accesses the Internet through Microsoft's Bing web browser. The web browsing feature, supported by Bing, was first announced at Microsoft's Build conference in May and was launched to ChatGPT Plus users. A few months later, however, OpenAI took it down after discovering that users were using the feature to bypass the paywall.

In a September announcement, OpenAI said that since its initial launch in May, the company had received useful feedback from users and incorporated it into new updates, including "following robots.txt" and "identifying user agents so that the site can control how ChatGPT interacts with them."

ChatGPT Plus members pay $20 a month, and for users who need the latest information, this new feature may be worth paying for because it improves the accuracy and reliability of chatbots.

For other users who are eager to use this feature, OpenAI said in the original announcement that the feature will be available to all users soon. Before that, Bing Chat was a good alternative because it was also supported by GPT-4, had access to the Internet, and was free.
