Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Xiao Zhan for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, October 19 (Xinhua)-- Ford Motor Company on Wednesday (October 18) announced a recall of 35000 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles in the United States because the main contactor of the high-voltage battery may overheat and cause a loss of driving power.

CTOnews.com noted that the new recall covers the 2021 and 2022 Mach-E models, both of which are equipped with longer mileage batteries. Earlier, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigated whether Ford handled the issue correctly in August after Ford recalled 49000 Mach-E models in June 2022.

The initial recall was to update the software, and the new recall also included the replacement of high-voltage battery junction boxes.

NHTSA said in August that after the 2022 recall, Ford issued a service announcement calling for the replacement of the high-voltage battery junction box and said owners who still lost driving power after the recall had replaced the part.

Ford said on Wednesday that it had learned of 107 cases of driving power loss caused by overheating of high-voltage contactors after completing the 2022 recall, but had not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem.
