CTOnews.com October 18 news, Guo Mingyi today released a market research briefing, based on supply chain shipments, estimated that the fourth quarter of 2023 Apple MacBook fell sharply 25-35% year-on-year.

Guo Mingyi said that demand for Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Air notebooks has declined significantly since the homecoming event, and shipments are expected to fall by more than 20 per cent this year.

Mr Guo expects Apple to ship 17 million MacBook units in 2023, down 30 per cent from a year earlier, CTOnews.com learned from the briefing.

Guo Mingyi believes that Apple's MacBook currently faces many challenges, including the end of telecommuting requirements and the decline in the attractiveness of Apple Silicon chips and mini-LED screens.

Apple is expected to attract users with 3nm-based M3 chips next year, boosting MacBook shipments, but this strategy remains to be seen.

As the parts cost and man-hour cost of assembling MacBook are higher than that of conventional notebooks (about 3 times), Guo Mingyi believes that due to the decline in shipments of MacBook product lines, the revenue of major MacBook suppliers will be greatly affected this year.
