Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com October 18 news, CTOnews.com learned from the Nvidia official that at today's Foxconn Day event, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun and Hon Hai Group Chairman Liu Yangwei jointly announced that the two companies are jointly building an artificial intelligence (AI) factory.
▲ Touyuan Nvidia's website said it was expanding its ongoing cooperation with Foxconn Group (Foxconn) to accelerate the development of AI-powered electric vehicles and robot platforms.
As part of the partnership, Hon Hai plans to develop a new data centre known as the "AI factory" to power innovation, such as manufacturing digital and generative AI services.
Hon Hai announced plans to build a large number of computing systems based on Nvidia CPU and GPU and their network technologies. The systems will be sold to customers who want to build AI data factories and are equipped with Nvidia hardware and Nvidia AI Enterprise software.
Hon Hai said the AI factory system it was building was based on the Nvidia HGX reference design, and that each platform would be equipped with eight Nvidia H100 GPU, as well as Nvidia GH200 super chips and networks. These systems will allow Hon Hai customers to deploy Nvidia accelerated computing in their data centres to support internal generation of AI workloads and other tasks, such as autonomous robots and self-driving car training.
In addition to making components for customers'AI factories, ▲ Jiang Shangyi, Huang Renxun and Liu Yangwei said they would also develop their own factories. Hon Hai's AI plant will use the Nvidia Omniverse platform as well as the Isaac and Metropolis frameworks to meet the strict production and quality standards of the electronics industry, the company said.
Hon Hai also said its goal is to create an AI plant that will enable it to build the next generation of autonomous mobile and industrial robots that can travel several miles a day, assemble parts in the factory and perform quality control checks. As a result, Hon Hai's AI plant will focus on the training and reasoning of these systems and running virtual world simulations.
In addition to focusing on the AI plant, Hon Hai chose Nvidia's Drive Hyperion 9 platform, which is supported by the latest Drive Thor Automotive system-on-Chip (SOC) as the basis for its electronic control unit for self-driving cars.
▲ 's next-generation Nvidia Drive Thor Hon Hai is already a first-tier manufacturer of ECU based on Nvidia's old car chip Drive Orin. Nvidia said that compared to the old platform, Drive Thor chip provides a number of new features, including an integrated sensor architecture for L3 cities and L4 highway driving scenes, as well as support for high-resolution cameras, radar, lidar and ultrasonic sensors. With its ability to process more data, Drive Thor is expected to greatly improve the navigation performance of self-driving cars.
