CTOnews.com, Oct. 18, Tesla began to launch its new "driver drowsiness warning" function, which uses in-car cameras to monitor the status of drivers.

For years, Tesla did not provide a similar driver monitoring function in his autopilot aids (including Autopilot and FSD) and could only detect torque on the steering wheel.

Earlier this year, Tesla hacker Green said Tesla would further use his car camera to determine the degree of drowsiness by counting the driver's yawns and blinks.

Now Tesla has begun to provide this function, which is called "driver drowsiness warning". This feature has begun to appear in Tesla's European user manual:

The driver's drowsiness warning is designed to identify signs of drowsiness by monitoring the driver's facial features and driving behavior. when a driver's drowsiness is detected, a warning is displayed and an alarm is sounded in the card area of the touch screen.

Tesla said that the feature will only be activated when driving at a speed of more than 65 kilometers per hour for at least 10 minutes and the Autopilot is not enabled.

In addition, this function is optional, and you can disable or enable the driver drowsiness warning for the current travel cycle through Touch Control > Safety > driver drowsiness warning. The driver drowsiness warning system is automatically reactivated at the beginning of each travel cycle.

CTOnews.com notes that Tesla is not the first automaker to introduce driver vigilance monitoring technology. Mercedes-Benz already had a similar feature a decade ago.
