The Youth Sustainable Development Science and Technology Innovation Marathon (Youth Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development Startathon) is a recruitment challenge for colleges and universities across the country, guided by China's 17 sustainable development goals, the Global Development Initiative and the 2022 Global Development report, and with the theme of "Digital Technology for Sustainable Human and Social Development" (Digital Technology Facilitates Human and Social Sustainable Development).

The first event in 2023 will focus on the three main lines of "sustainable youth development" (Sustainable Youth Development), "sustainable urban construction" (Sustainable Urban Construction) and "sustainable enterprise management" (Sustainable Business Operations), combined with cutting-edge science and technology such as artificial intelligence, digital, electronics, cloud services and metasmology, to discuss sustainable development issues with Chinese-style modernization characteristics with more than a thousand outstanding young people from colleges and universities. And put forward the solution to the problem, complete the design of service products, so as to cultivate innovative young talents with international vision, humanistic consciousness, science and technology, independent thinking and teamwork.

This activity is guided by China International Science Exchange (International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China), sponsored by Ningbo Wutong Talent Development Center, OSG International Youth Federation, pta Plant Alliance, and jointly spread by college student competition platform, social enterprise, public welfare communication platform, etc., and soon received an enthusiastic response from college students from Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University, Chinese University of Hong Kong and other colleges and universities. We are deeply aware of the enthusiasm and pursuit of college students for sustainable development.

The number of registrations in the first round was as high as 908, with 796 valid applicants. The participants were mainly aged between 18 and 24, with a male-to-female ratio of about 6:4. Among them, the 23-year-old has the largest number of applicants, accounting for about 60%. Contestants come from different grades, with sophomores to seniors as the main body, accounting for about 60%, prospective freshmen accounting for about 10%, and fresh graduates accounting for about 30%. The residence of students and the distribution of colleges and universities are mainly concentrated in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, South China and the southeast coastal areas.

In the preliminary round, the organizing committee strictly screened each application questionnaire and got to know each student through consultation of registration information, understanding of project experience, telephone interview and communication. Finally, the 30 students with the highest degree of matching were selected and led to the sprint wheel.

Through an online Q & A sharing session on October 8, we will help students entering the sprint wheel to have an in-depth understanding of the race schedule, put forward optimization suggestions according to the sprint round topics and outlines submitted by the students, and help them better develop their creative ideas. Outstanding projects will be recommended to professional incubators and venture capital institutions, while individuals who perform well in the competition will have access to a variety of internship opportunities, including large enterprises, science and technology start-up companies and overseas talent platforms.

The 15 students who stand out in the sprint round will go to Singapore to participate in the six-day ASEAN-China-India Youth leaders Summit to represent Chinese youth on the international stage and highlight China's innovative power. We expect these outstanding young people to shine on the international stage and make positive contributions to the global challenges of sustainable development. They represent not only the new generation of China, but also the wisdom and responsibility of China in the new era. May they gain more inspiration in international exchanges and open up a new path for a common sustainable future.
