CTOnews.com October 16 news, according to thestar, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmy Fazle (Fahmi Fadzil) said that the Ministry of Communications and Digital, Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Committee (MCMC) will meet with TikTok.

Fahmy said that after meeting with Helena Lersch, global vice president of TikTok, he found that the platform's compliance with Malaysian laws was still unsatisfactory and needed to be corrected immediately, so he arranged the plan.

". We also talked about TikTok Shop, and I have asked TikTok Shop for more information, which will be reviewed by the ministry in the coming weeks," he said in an interview.

Mr Fahmy said Malaysia was different from Indonesia, which banned TikTok's e-commerce transactions, adding that the government had to consider several factors before making any further decisions. "I have asked TikTok Shop to provide some information to fully understand the situation, including predatory pricing, data sharing and data sovereignty mentioned by President Joko."

CTOnews.com noted that in response to the spread of fake news on the platform, MCMC created a TikTok account called SebenarnyaMY, which shared videos of how to find fake news. The videos also involve popular fake news reports, such as those about the X virus vaccine, which have been viewed more than 1 million times.
