Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Oct. 17 (Xinhua)-- Apple CarPlay is a system that projects iPhone functions and applications onto a car screen, making it easy for users to use navigation, music, phone and other functions while driving. However, recently, many users have reported that there is a serious failure in the GPS function of CarPlay, resulting in the navigation not working properly.
The problem has been around for nearly a year and has been around since the release of iOS 16 last year, affecting a variety of brands and models, including Ford, Toyota, Honda and Mercedes-Benz, as well as wireless and wired connections, 9to5Mac reported.
This problem is manifested in several aspects: first, sometimes GPS connections are completely frozen and the location is no longer updated. The navigation arrow stops in place, the map is stuck, the voice navigation stops, and sometimes users take a long time to find that they have missed an exit or turn.
Second, the GPS position will jump around as if it were crazy. Users are clearly driving on the highway, but CarPlay shows that they are driving in the fields, in the river, or far from their actual location. The positioning will keep jumping around, which completely destroys the navigation function. Apple Maps or Google Maps can confusingly give the wrong indication that the user has deviated from the original route.
Third, sometimes the GPS position indicator turns into a large circle. CarPlay believes that the user is somewhere in that circle, but doesn't know exactly where, which also makes navigation invalid. After all, if Apple Maps or Google Maps don't know the exact location of the user, they can't give the exact direction.
This problem has been bothering many CarPlay users, who have tried various methods and settings, but have not solved the problem. Their car firmware and mobile phone systems are up to date, and map apps have all the necessary location / privacy permissions.
There is no official solution yet, but some users have found some temporary workarounds.
Recently, someone has found a seemingly reliable way: before connecting to CarPlay, start the navigation application on iPhone and start navigation. This seems to greatly reduce the possibility of CarPlay errors and breaking navigation instructions. Although this is not an ideal solution, it seems to be more effective than other methods.
Others have noticed that if the GPS connection to the CarPlay is disconnected, you can temporarily "wake up" the iPhone by unlocking it and opening the navigation application you are using. This can bring it back to normal for a few minutes, but then the same problem will arise again.
As of the CTOnews.com press release, Apple has not officially responded to this, hoping that Apple can fix this annoying problem as soon as possible.
