CTOnews.com, Oct. 16, data shared by Jose Pontes shows that the number of plug-in cars registered in the Netherlands increased to 13916 in September, an increase of about 55% from a year earlier. The overall market expanded slowly, rising 17 per cent year-on-year to 29855 units, while the market share of plug-in cars rose to 47 per cent, up from 35 per cent in the same period last year.

The increase in market share of plug-in cars is mainly due to pure electric vehicles (34% of new car sales), accounting for 72% of all plug-in car sales, bringing the annual average to 69%.

CTOnews.com noted that Tesla Model Y ranked first in total sales in the Netherlands in September, twice as much as Volkswagen Polo, which ranked second. In the TOP5, only two models are not plugged in.

From January to September, the Netherlands has registered more than 121000 plug-in electric vehicles, accounting for about 43 per cent of the market.

Pure electric vehicles: about 82200, with a market share of 29%

Plug-in hybrid cars: about 39700, with a market share of 14%

Total: 121959 (up 70%), 43% market share

For reference, the Netherlands registered more than 107000 passenger plug-in electric vehicles in 2022, accounting for 35 per cent of the market.
