CTOnews.com On October 16, Dave Burke, vice president of engineering at Google, revealed an exciting news on Reddit that lossless USB audio is coming to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. This means that music lovers can quickly experience their favorite songs in their purest form without any loss of quality.

Burke explains that this feature will "make sure the audio is flawless" by letting music files bypass the usual audio processing flow.

Burke also said lossless USB audio will be available on the Pixel 8 series and other Android phones. However, app developers must first adopt new APIs to support lossless audio before users can use this audio format. Some popular music players on Android, such as Spotify, also plan to add support for lossless audio.

Adding lossless USB audio to the Pixel 8 series is no surprise, CTOnews.com notes that Google has added OS-level support for this audio format in Android 14 Beta 2.
