Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com news on October 16, AMD CEO Su Zifeng and two other people informed Cisco that they wanted to leave the board. Su Zifeng, who joined Cisco's board of directors in early 2020, announced his resignation in a recent filing with SEC.

According to the Cisco filing to SEC, "on October 4, 2023, Dr. M. Michele Burns, Roderick C. McGeary and Lisa T. Su respectively informed Cisco Systems that they had each decided not to run for Cisco's 2023 Annual General meeting and that Ms. Burns, Mr. McGeary and Dr. Su would continue to serve as directors until the end of the 2023 Annual General meeting."

It is not clear why they resigned. Of the three, Su Zifeng is the only CEO of a high-tech company. When she joined the Cisco board in 2020, AMD was just beginning to regain market share of PC and servers from Intel.

AMD acquired Pensando in 2022 for $1.9 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 13.889 billion yuan) to acquire data processing Unit (DPU) technology, a processor that supports data center connectivity and competes to some extent with Cisco's data center connectivity products.

In addition, AMD recently introduced the EPYC 8000 family of "Siena" processors for communications and edge servers, which also eroded Cisco's products. As a result, Su Zifeng has at least two conflicts of interest in Cisco.
