CTOnews.com, October 15 (Xinhua)-- Apple launched a new Vision Pro headshow in June, priced at $3499 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 25578 yuan), and is scheduled to go on sale early next year (by the end of April).

Bloomberg Mark Gurman mentioned in today's Power On newsletter that Apple was already focused on developing a cheaper headshow product before its release in June, after all, the $3499 price of the Vision Pro is really hard to make it popular.

It is said that the cheaper Vision Pro follow-on product may abandon the use of external displays and Mac-grade chips to help it fall to the internally discussed price range of $1,500 to 2,500 (currently about 10965 to 18275 yuan). It's still not very cheap, but it's almost halved compared to $3499.

Goolman also said the more affordable version might use iPhone-class chips instead of Mac-class chips, reducing costs by reducing the number of cameras and having lower-resolution screens.

It is worth mentioning that abandoning the external display will mean that Apple will cut off a major feature of the Vision Pro-the EyeSight.

People who see Vision Pro for the first time and are not familiar with VR technology may think that the front of Vision Pro is a piece of transparent glass, but it is actually an opaque display screen, which also includes cameras, sensors and chips.

Mike Rockwell, vice president of the Vision Pro technology development team, said the display is not only curved, but also lenticular; this means that users will present different images when viewed from different angles, compared with traditional 2D displays that make their eyes look unnatural, especially when viewed from the side.

When someone approaches the user who is wearing the Vision Pro, the visual area of the device becomes transparent so that the user can see the person, and the person who approaches will also see the user's eyes. When a user is immersed in a space environment or uses App, EyeSight provides visual clues to let others know what the user is focusing on.

In addition to developing cheaper models, Apple is also developing mature second-generation Vision Pro products. The new head display will have a smaller, lighter body and will be more comfortable to wear.
