CTOnews.com October 15 news, in August this year, SK Hynix announced that it has developed the world's highest standard HBM3E memory, and will start mass production in the first half of next year. Now it has begun to provide customers with samples for performance verification.

According to MT.co.kr, following the fourth-generation product HBM3, SK Hynix will exclusively supply the fifth-generation high-bandwidth memory HBM3E to NVIDIA, which is expected to further consolidate its position as an AI semiconductor company.

According to the semiconductor industry news on the 15th, SK Hynix will provide NVIDIA with HBM3E memory to meet the mass production quality requirements early next year, and carry out the final qualification test.

"you can't sell the B100 without HBM3E,NVIDIA," said one semiconductor industry executive. "once the quality meets the requirements, it's only a matter of time before the contract."

According to reports, this batch of HBM3E will be applied to the next generation of Blackwell flagship GPU--B100, which NVIDIA plans to release around the second quarter of next year. The market predicts that the B100 will become a stronger AI game changer than the H100, the highest specification currently available at Nvidia.

CTOnews.com Note: Blackwell, the first black academician of the American Academy of Sciences and the first black tenured professor at the University of California, Berkeley, died of illness on July 8, 2010 at the age of 91.

It is worth mentioning that NVIDIA has occupied more than 90% of the AI GPU market, while in the storage field, SK Hynix has occupied more than half of the global HBM market and monopolized the market of high-capacity DRAM products such as 128GB DDR5.

It is said that Nvidia originally planned to release the B100 in the fourth quarter of next year, but Nvidia has advanced the release date to the end of the second quarter because of rapid demand growth. As a result, with the advance of the B100 release date, its supply chain has also become busy, while the quality testing of SK Hynix scheduled for the beginning of the second quarter has been advanced to the first quarter.

At this stage, SK Hynix is mainly focused on improving the yield. If all goes according to plan, SK Hynix will fulfill the exclusive order to supply HBM3E to NVIDIA again after HBM3.
