The yield of hybrid rice here reached an astonishing 1251.5 kg per mu, setting a new world record for the yield of hybrid rice per mu.

In 2018, Yuan Longping put forward a yield target of 18 tons per hectare (1200 kg per mu). The Chengdu Branch Center of China National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center carried out related research in Dechang County in the same year.

The demonstration field covers an area of 110mu, and the variety "Giliangyou 8022" is planted. Rice seedlings were raised and sown on March 20 this year, and transplanted from April 24 to May 5. From sowing to harvesting, the demonstration field adopted a series of advanced technical measures, such as early breeding and sparse sowing, wide and narrow row fixed distance transplanting, soil testing and formula fertilization, scientific water management, integrated control of diseases and insect pests, etc., to ensure the healthy growth of rice.

At the site of yield testing and acceptance, the expert group randomly selected three rice fields for mechanical harvesting according to the super rice yield measurement method of the Ministry of Agriculture and Village. After water measurement, impurity removal and weighing after machine threshing, the average yield per mu of the three fields was determined to be 1251.5 kg.
