CTOnews.com, Oct. 14, according to Reuters, Chrysler parent company Stellantis and Ford said they would temporarily lay off 1250 employees due to the impact of the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike.

Stellantis announced on Friday that it had laid off seven hundred jobs at two plants in Indiana, and later said it was temporarily laying off 1340 workers in three states as a result of a four-week strike.

Ford said it would temporarily lay off another 550people after UAW strikes at truck factories in Kentucky and assembly plants in Chicago.

Starting on Monday, Ford will cut about 300 jobs at a gearbox plant in Ohio, about 250 at four plants in Michigan and 12 at its Chicago plant, CTOnews.com noted. Ford has laid off a total of 2480 employees since the strike began on Sept. 15.

Ford pointed out that the strike at the Kentucky truck plant could affect more than a dozen factories.

It is understood that the Detroit Big three, with more than 34000 UAW workers, are on strike. About 2300 GM employees are temporarily laid off.
