Recently, the official website of IEEE (Association of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) announced the official release of three international standards in the field of biometric recognition led by Chinese enterprise Ant Group. This means that China is in the forefront of the world in the technology and application in the field of biometric recognition, and has a certain technological leading ability. It is understood that by the third quarter of 2023, Ant Group has led or participated in nearly 70 international standards, covering data and privacy protection, artificial intelligence, information security and other areas.

Standards are an important embodiment of the technological level and independent innovation ability of enterprises. Enterprises' participation in the formulation of international standards, especially in the digital era, is also related to the national technological discourse and international influence.

It is understood that Ant Group has set up a special standardization team since 2016. actively participate in international and domestic standard-setting in many areas, including data and privacy protection, artificial intelligence, infrastructure and computing technology, green low-carbon, information security, digital identity, digital life, inclusive and sustainable development, and so on. In many authoritative international standard organizations, such as ISO / IEC (International Organization for Standardization), ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), IETF (International Internet Engineering Task Force), LDBC (International Association data Datum Committee), Ant Group has a number of experts as registered experts and conveners or chairmen in nearly 20 working groups.

In the past year, a number of international standards led and participated by Chinese enterprises such as Ant Group have filled the gaps in international standards in related fields.

In December 2022, ISO / IEC issued the world's first international standard in the field of mobile terminal biometric recognition technology led by China (ISO / IEC 27553-1: 2022 Security requirements for authentication using biometrics on mobile devices-Part 1: Local modes). This is the first time that Ant Group and other Chinese enterprises have taken the lead in the formulation of ISO international standards in the field of biometric certification, and at the same time fill in the gaps in international standards in this field.

In April 2023, IEEE released the cross-chain standard (IEEE 3205-2023 Blockchain Interoperability Data Authentication and Communication Protocol). Ant Group's platform Ant chain is one of the main sponsors of the standard.

In May 2023, ISO issued the mobile service-user identity International Standard (ISO 5158: 2023 Mobile Financial Services-customer identification guidelines). Ant Group experts led the formulation of the ISO / TC68 (Financial services) international standard as the convener, providing an international standard basis for customer identity authentication in the mobile field.

In June 2023, LDBC released the first version of the world's first graph database test benchmark, named FinBench. The benchmark is initiated by Ant Group and jointly completed by several organizations under the guidance of LDBC. It aims to evaluate the function and performance of the database in the following scenario and provide quantitative benchmarking tools for the industry.

In addition, Ant Group led or participated in the development of intelligent risk control technology, privacy computing technology, technology, and other technical standards have also been officially released by ITU-T into international standards.

Around the five basic technology areas of distributed database and computing infrastructure, private computing, data and network security, and artificial intelligence, Ant Group has continued to increase its technology and R & D investment in recent years. Data show that Ant Group invested 20.46 billion yuan in annual scientific research in 2022, double that in 2019. In September this year, the all-China Federation of Industry and Commerce released the list of "Top 500s of China's Private Enterprises in 2022" and the "2023 Research and Analysis report of China's Private Enterprises". The intensity of R & D investment in Ant Group in 2022 (note: r & D intensity refers to the proportion of R & D expenses in the main business income) is more than 11%. The R & D intensity ranks second among the top 10 R & D expenses of private enterprises.
