Microsoft has received a report of a problem with the Windows update (KB5031356) released on October 10, 2023 that cannot be installed. The device may show progress initially, but then the installation cannot be completed.

According to our report, the most common error is error 8007000D (ERROR_INVALID_DATA). You can find this error in the Windows update view under system settings by selecting Update History.

Microsoft encourages users facing this problem to submit reports through the company's feedback center. Microsoft said it has completed the investigation, and the problem can be resolved through KIR, which is expected to be pushed to users within the next 48 hours, and users can also fix it by executing the Dism / online / cleanup-image / RestoreHealth command.
