Canon said that the working principle of this production equipment is different from that of industry leader ASML, not lithography, but more like printing, without using the principle of image projection to transfer the microstructure of integrated circuits to silicon wafers.

This set of equipment can be applied to silicon wafers of at least 14 square millimeters, so that chips equivalent to 5nm process can be produced.

Canon said it will continue to improve and develop the system, which is expected to be used in the production of 2nm chips in the future.
