Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com In a new letter to Activision employees following Microsoft's official acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick said Phil Spencer asked Kotick to remain CEO of ABK and report back to him, and Kotick agreed to complete the task by the end of 2023. This means that Kotick will resign this year.

In 1991, Cordick and his partner Brian Kelly bought a 25 percent stake in the near-bankrupt Activision company (then known as Mediagenic), then changed the name back to Activision, underwent a complete reorganization, and refocused the company on video games.

Codick became CEO of Activision Blizzard in February 1991, and Activision Blizzard acquired nine development studios from 1997 to 2003, releasing its first hit game in 1995. In July 2008, he became CEO of Activision Blizzard due to the merger of Activision Blizzard and Vivendi Games.

CTOnews.com with email content:

Team members,

Today marks a milestone in our company's illustrious history.

The merger with Microsoft will bring new resources and new opportunities to our talented teams around the world. It will also enable us to offer more fun, more joy and more connection to more players than ever before.

This moment is possible because of four decades of innovation, inspiration and fulfillment.

When Brian Kelly and I began this journey in 1991, we intended to build a company with great impact and lasting value. Your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to excellence have enabled us to do this. In the 1980s, we pioneered independent third-party game development through Pitfall, River Raid, and Kaboom. In the 1990s, we united the world through online multiplayer games like Mecha Warrior, Warcraft and StarCraft. In the 2000s, we launched Call of Duty, which became one of the most successful entertainment series in history. We also launched Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk Pro Skater, which entered pop culture in ways video games never did. In the 2010s, we launched Candy Crush Saga, which has been downloaded more than 5 billion times to date, and 50% of our global players are women.

Your dedication enables us to push the envelope and break records to delight our players. During the instability of the past 21 months, you have remained as focused on our player service and supporting each other as ever.

As I said earlier, I am fully committed to helping with the transition. Spencer asked me to continue as CEO of ABK and report back to him, and we agreed that I would complete this task by the end of 2023. We all look forward to working together to achieve a smooth integration of our teams and players.

Brian and I are very excited about the next phase of ABK. We now join one of the most successful global companies and are ready for unprecedented opportunities to connect the world through our games.

As part of Microsoft, we will do better together.

Bobby
