CTOnews.com October 13 news, according to Bloomberg local time reported on Thursday, including chairman, founder Wang Chuanfu, BYD executives delegation recently visited Latin America, BYD global vice president Li Ke (Stella Li) said that the company's new electric vehicle factory in Brazil will include facilities for processing lithium and iron phosphate for the international market, hoping to be completed within two years.

BYD is considering acquiring lithium mining assets in Brazil in an effort to lock in supplies of raw materials. As the automotive industry begins to transform into electric vehicles, Latin America has become a "hot spot" for car companies seeking to make metals for electric vehicles.

"We're going to build this factory quickly to make sure that 100 percent of all BYD models sold here in the future are produced here," Li said. "

On October 9 this year, BYD officially launched the groundbreaking ceremony of its Camasari plant in Brazil, which was formerly a factory of Ford in Brazil. At the groundbreaking ceremony, BYD announced that three passenger car models will be put into production at the plant, including the Song family model, Dolphin and ATTO 3 (the domestic equivalent of Yuan PLUS).

CTOnews.com previously reported that BYD had announced in early July this year with the Brazilian Bahia state government that the two sides would set up a large-scale production base complex consisting of three factories in Camasari City with a total investment of 3 billion reais (equivalent to about RMB 4.34 billion), which will further promote BYD's globalization process.

▲ The BYD Brazil production base complex consists of three factories, namely, a production plant mainly engaged in electric passenger cars and truck chassis, a new energy passenger vehicle production plant, and a processing plant specializing in lithium iron phosphate battery materials. Among them, the whole vehicle production line of new energy passenger vehicles covers pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with a planned annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.
