On October 12, the third China Telecom Science and Technology Festival Internet of things Symposium was held in Nanjing. At this forum, Mr. Liu Xiaoguan, vice president of Huawei Terminal BG Software Department and representative of the OpenHarmony Project Group working Committee of Open Atomic Open Source Association, delivered a speech entitled "Building a New Ecology of IoT OS in the era of the Internet of everything", sharing the development trend of intelligent terminal operating system industry, OpenHarmony ecological progress, open source and IoT industry ecological co-construction.

Liu Xiaojian said that over the past 50 years, with technological progress and demand evolution, PC Internet, mobile Internet and industrial Internet have developed in stages and merged into the era of the Internet of everything. In the era of the Internet of everything, multiple forms of terminals coexist, diversity scenarios coexist, flexibility and ecological empowerment become the key to the new ecology of IoT operating system. Under the background of the times, the OpenHarmony operating system came into being.

OpenHarmony is an open source project incubated and operated by the Open Atomic Open Source Association (OpenAtom Foundation). The goal is to build a framework and platform for intelligent terminal device operating systems based on open source, and to promote the prosperity and development of the Internet of everything industry. Liu Xiaogan said that OpenHarmony was born to face the era of the Internet of everything, including lightweight, small and standard systems, flexibly supporting all kinds of industry terminals and consumer terminals with inconsistent hardware resource needs. The technical characteristics and advantages of the operating system are obvious, coupled with the industry values such as distributed and secure, it can well meet the needs of digital transformation in thousands of industries.

By the end of September 2023, OpenHarmony has more than 100 million lines of code, more than 200 partners and more than 5900 community contributors. More than 410 software and hardware products have passed the compatibility test and have become the root community of the next generation intelligent terminal operating system.

OpenHarmony's inherent technical characteristics of the Internet of things operating system determines that it is very suitable for the development of the Internet of things terminal OS.

It is reported that the exploration and cooperation of the Internet of things terminal OS between Tianyi and Huawei based on cloud network integration began in January 2023, and signed a cooperation memorandum in June, the cooperation between the two sides has achieved phased results. In the future, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation to jointly promote the landing application of OS in smart cities, smart education, intelligent factories, Internet of things and other industries, and the research and promotion of new technologies of the Internet of things.

The development of open source ecology and IoT industry is inseparable from the input and contribution of all parties involved.
