Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the delivery of clues about the past. CTOnews.com, October 12 (Xinhua)-- Toyota announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Japanese energy giant to mass-produce all-solid-state batteries and build a supply chain.

According to reports, the two sides plan to commercialize the next generation of batteries in 2027-2028, and then achieve full mass production. At present, the two sides have jointly formed a research and development team of dozens of people.

CTOnews.com Note: Japan Guangxing Co., Ltd. (Idemitsu Kosan) was founded on March 30, 1940 to sell lubricating oil products. It is now the second largest oil company in Japan and one of the major suppliers of OLED materials in the world. In addition, the company has been developing solid sulphide electrolytes, a material for batteries.

Toyota has said the battery could significantly increase the mileage of electric vehicles as part of its strategy announced in June.

Toyota is currently working on ways to make up for losses caused by losing to Chinese competitors such as Tesla and BYD in the electric car competition.

The company said it had found a "technological breakthrough" to solve the durability problem of solid-state batteries and said it was developing ways to produce solid-state batteries on a large scale.

Compared with traditional liquid batteries, solid-state batteries are safer and more stable, and have more advantages in battery life and charging. Toyota said trams with solid-state batteries have a range of up to 1200 kilometers and take only 10 minutes to recharge.

Toyota CEO Hiroji Sato said at a news conference: "by integrating the material development technology of the two companies, the material manufacturing technology of Sunlight and Toyota's battery mass production technology, we will fully mass-produce all-solid-state batteries."

It is worth mentioning that Chuangguang has been expanding into the electric vehicle battery supply chain. Earlier this year, Sunlight raised its stake in Australian lithium developer Delta Lithium to 15 per cent at a time when global carmakers are accelerating the electrification transition.
