CTOnews.com, October 12, according to Reuters, the European Commission will no longer launch a new round of investigation into the Blizzard acquisition, which means that the new revised plan submitted by Microsoft will no longer need to be re-investigated and reviewed by the European Union.

The European Commission approved Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard in May, while CMA vetoed the same plan in April, saying it would give Microsoft an anti-competitive advantage in the cloud gaming market.

Microsoft then submitted a new revised plan to CMA, promising to allow Ubisoft to provide current and future Activision Blizzard games through cloud streaming.

Earlier, it was reported that the European Commission would reopen the investigation after Microsoft submitted the new plan, which would undoubtedly delay the company's timetable for completing the deal. The European Commission believes the deal "does not need to go through another approval process," CTOnews.com said, citing a new report from Bloomberg.

An official spokesman for the European Commission declined to comment on the report, saying only that the European Commission was "closely monitoring developments in the UK and assessing its potential impact".

It is rumored that Microsoft is preparing to finalize the acquisition of Activision Blizzard as early as Friday (October 13). Even if the company does complete the acquisition, it may still have to deal with the Federal Trade Commission.
