According to reports, a scientific research team led by Professor Wang Xiaoqiang of the National Defense key discipline Laboratory of Nuclear waste and Environmental Safety of Southwest University of Science and Technology has developed a laboratory electric furnace test platform with the characteristics of compact structure and the application of bubbling stirring to accelerate conversion efficiency, fast response and controllable gas lift overflow discharge and other innovative technologies.

After many studies, repeated argumentation and verification, this ceramic electric melting furnace with compact structure, efficient and reasonable configuration of flow field, electric field and temperature field has been successfully trial-produced, with the highest melting rate of 121kg / d, and the simulated waste glass produced is uniform, compact, non-crystalline, bubble-free, safe and stable, and the oxide inclusion rate of medium and low level radioactive waste is as high as 26.0%. It can be used to meet the needs of glass solidification of low and medium radioactive waste in China's spent fuel post-treatment plants, and its processability and product performance are comparable to the most advanced low-active waste glass products in the world.

The acceptance team said that the result broke through the technical problems of the laboratory electric furnace and glass curing formula, and the system was stable, safe and reliable, which effectively ensured the further engineering research of the glass curing research project of medium and low level radioactive waste. On September 27, the National Defense key disciplines Laboratory invited relevant experts in the nuclear industry to guide the electric furnace and glass curing formula of this low-and medium-level radioactive waste glass curing laboratory, so as to further promote the improvement, promotion, application and promotion of the project.
