CTOnews.com October 12 news, According to CCTV news learned from the Three Gorges Group, Today (October 12) early morning, Jinsha River Baihetan hydropower station accumulated power generation exceeded 100 billion kilowatt hours, Equivalent to emission reduction of about 82.4 million tons of carbon dioxide, Guarantee Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other Yangtze River Delta economic green development and people's livelihood electricity demand.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in Ningnan County of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County of Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province. It is a major national project of "West-to-East Power Transmission" in China. The total installed capacity of the power station is 16 million kilowatts, ranking second only to the Three Gorges Project and ranking second in the world. The first batch of units will be put into operation on June 28,2021, and all units will be put into operation on December 20,2022. The power station can provide more than 60 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the Yangtze River Delta region and Sichuan and Yunnan provinces every year, and the maximum daily power generation can meet the daily living electricity consumption of 148 million people.

In addition, China has fully built the world's largest clean energy corridor on the Yangtze River, and the Three Gorges Group has built and operated six giant cascade hydropower stations on the main stream of the Yangtze River.(Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges, Gezhouba) A total of 110 hydropower units have been installed, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of 300 billion kilowatt hours, forming the world's largest clean energy corridor spanning 1800 kilometers, which is of great significance to ensuring flood control, power generation, shipping, water resources utilization and ecological security in the Yangtze River Basin.
