Handset makers have been talking for years about screen technology that can "repair itself," CCS Insight chief analyst Ben Wood claimed in an interview today:

Achieving 'screen self-repair' is not science fiction, it can be done, and I think the biggest challenge is setting expectations correctly.

Ben Wood said,"Now people are working on some new technologies, and it seems that 'screen self-repair' technology is expected to become a tuyere. Note that we are not talking about 'miraculously recovering the damaged screen', but only repairing' small scratches on the surface of the screen'."

LG actually advertised screen "self-healing" technology in its phones as early as 2013, after releasing a phone called G Flex that features a "self-healing" coating that can withstand some low-to-moderate friction and scratches to enhance the durability of the phone to some extent.
